I am delighted to introduce you to Angharad Wyn Sinclair, Celebrant and graduate of both our Funeral and Wedding training programmes for Independent Celebrants. We had so much fun working together – and share many loves, including reading and cake! I’ve really enjoyed getting to know Angharad and am grateful that we live close to each other, as that means cake meet-ups can be a regular feature. She’s based in Carmarthenshire and is fluent in both Welsh and English.
What inspired you to become a celebrant?
Angharad Wyn Sinclair, Celebrant
It wasn’t just one thing in isolation. I’ve always been an empathetic person who loves working with others to empower and inspire them. That’s why I cherished my work in the third sector, encouraging a love of reading for pleasure. But over time, the role became more focused on paperwork and project management, and after the impact of the Covid pandemic, I felt the personal engagement and connection were missing — I wasn’t feeling inspired anymore.
Then, over a short period, I lost three treasured members of my family. Each of them had a moving and beautiful celebrant-led funeral, and something about those ceremonies really resonated with me. I suddenly thought, perhaps this is something I could do! The way a celebrant supports and guides families and couples through the process of crafting their ceremonies felt so meaningful and fulfilling. So, I started looking into it—and the rest, as they say, is history!

What skills do you bring to the role?
Angharad Wyn Sinclair, Celebrant
I bring empathy, a gentle and sensitive nature, and strong listening skills—qualities that help me truly understand and connect with the people I work with. I’m a creative thinker who loves bouncing ideas around, ensuring that every ceremony feels unique and personal.
Being well-read and having a background in history has also sharpened my research skills, which is a great advantage when advising couples and families on meaningful readings, songs, and rituals to include in their ceremonies.
Perhaps most of all, I’m an incurable romantic. Despite experiencing my own heartbreaks, I still deeply believe in love and cherish the opportunity to help others celebrate theirs.
You took both our Wedding and Funeral Celebrant training courses; can you share one thing from each course that stood out or hit home for you?
Angharad Wyn Sinclair, Celebrant
One thing that really stood out for me in both courses was the realisation that, as a celebrant, you are the conduit through which stories of life and love are woven into a tapestry that forms the heart of the ceremony—whether it’s a funeral or a wedding. It’s such a privilege to help craft and shape these moments, ensuring that they truly reflect the people at the centre of them.

What types of ceremonies do you hope to create?
Angharad Sinclair, Celebrant
Ceremonies that are as unique and special as the people I’m working with. My hope is to capture a little of their light and essence—to reflect who they truly are. I want to craft moments that leave guests feeling like they’ve learned something new or seen a deeper side of the couple or person being celebrated. Most of all, I want my ceremonies to be filled to bursting with love.
What are you most looking forward to as a weddings and vow renewals celebrant?
Angharad Wyn Sinclair, Celebrant
I’m most looking forward to being part of a couple’s love story. Helping people celebrate one of the most important days of their lives feels like such an honour. I love the idea of crafting ceremonies that truly reflect a couple’s journey and personalities—whether that means incorporating special moments, personal vows, or unique touches that make the day unforgettable. Knowing that I can play a role in creating a meaningful and heartfelt experience for couples and their loved ones is something I’m incredibly excited about.

What are your top tips for someone thinking about training as a celebrant?
Angharad Wyn Sinclair, Celebrant
Go for it! I found the training with Dinah so rewarding and empowering—it really gave my confidence a boost. What I’ve discovered since becoming a celebrant is that we’re all so wonderfully different, and each of us brings our own unique light and energy to the role. Don’t be afraid to be yourself, lean into what makes you you, and trust that there’s space in this work for your voice, your style, and your creativity.
Can you share 5 things about you:
- I love vampires! Whether it’s reading about them, watching films, or comparing different vampire lore, I can’t get enough. I find it fascinating how each book or film puts a unique spin on these legendary creatures!
- I’m an avid knitter and crocheter. I love creating bright, colourful clothes that bring joy, and there’s something so calming about working with yarn and seeing a project come to life.
- I adore kingfishers. Their flash of turquoise as they dart by never fails to make me smile—it always feels like a little moment of magic in nature.
- I can’t resist a classic love story. Jane Eyre and Pride & Prejudice are my absolute favourites, and I’ve reread them so many times. There’s something timeless about their romance and storytelling that keeps me coming back.
- I have a very needy (but lovable) black Schnoodle called Elsi. She is my constant shadow and companion, always by my side. She’s a loyal and gentle soul, and I can always count on her for a warm and enthusiastic greeting!
